The Medium size hook is great for sizes 1/8 (#4) to 3/16 (#6) or even wider.

The Coarse size hook is great for primitive wool cuts from 3/16" (#6) to 1/4" (#8) or even wider.

This is the hook myself, and my mother, Sharon Perry, a long time rug hooker and etsy shop owner (aprimitiverughooker), use for our own rug hooking projects. I use these hooks interchangeably and have used both to hook sizes from #4 to #8, as well ad alternative fibers like roving, yarn, and more.
